Message From the Chair
For all those who didn't get a copy of the Camp Booklet... This was the "chair|word" that i wrote for inclusion in that booklet... :)
Firstly, let me thank all of you who have made the resolution to set aside these few days and join this year’s YPM camp. I believe God has something great in store for each and every one of us at this camp. The theme of this year’s camp is Rezolution: it is all about making a resolution for Jesus. It is my desire that all campers will make the resolution to know Christ and to make Him known. The time is coming, when young people all over Singapore will hear the call to action and will need to make a response. God desires for young people everywhere to rise up to fulfill their full potential in Christ, and to reach out to their generation for Jesus. It is my desire that all of us will be found faithful and found in that spiritual army.May we be like the Apostle Paul, who nearing the end of his life, was able to say:“But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24 NKJV)Agape,Amelia TanCamp ChairmanYPM Camp 2005: ReZolution

shared @ YPM on 26 Novi welcomed Calvin Low back - after he returned from Australia (sent there for NS/ training).
i really thank God for this committee, each and every one of them.
at the recent camp com meeting [#4], i gave out a simple card of appreciation, to appreciate & encourage them as they serve. i presented Calvin's card to him in front of YPM :).Shared @ YPM on 19 Novhad the theme song played at ypm - asked matthew to sing...
The theme song realli flows in-line with the theme, theme verse, etc related to the camp...
i'm glad that matthew, aaron, samson and all the other musicians who were there that day were ready and willing to give the best they had to offer to Christ, even in such a small and simple thing like singing and playing for Him...click

about the theme verse:Acts 20:24 (NKJV)But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.i shared a bit about this at YPM service on 3rd sept... to lead into the camp t-shirt logo design competition... and, incidently, that day we had the camp speaker - chye aik - sharing at YPM service!
i got the inspiration from a friend's mission trip newsletter... it had this verse on the top...
as i meditated upon it further, it kept impressing upon me that such a powerful & meaningful verse should be our YPM Camp 2005: ReZolution theme verse...
as i shared this with someone (before announcing it to YPM or even the camp committee, at that point of time), he remarked that the person who used it as a theme verse for their mission trip must really have felt a full-time calling, or a real calling to missions....
i pondered about that statement... and this is the conclusion i have reached...this verse is meant for ALL Christians! Not for just the full-time staff, pastors, evangelists, or missionaries... BUT EVERYONE! including us, young people!!

i was pleased to let Aaron do some announcements @ YPM & the next day @ First service... i felt he did a great job in making those announcements :)...i was also pleased that he called for parents to join us in prayer for the camp - it was something that i wanted to emphasize but didn't have a chance to - i'm glad that God led him to do it, for me... :)This particular message from the Chair is about a sharing i made @ YPM during a realli tough period of time - when i felt extremely down and bothered by several problems that were happening at that point of time.... at the end of my sharing @ YPM - i asked Samson to play and i sang this song - "In Christ Alone"...This rendition is by Brian Littrell, one of my favorites.... (check out his website
here)
Artist : Brian Littrell Song : In Christ Alone Lyrics :
In Christ alone will I glory
Though I could pride myself in battles won
For I’ve been blessed beyond measure
And by His strength alone I’ll overcome
Oh, I could stop and count successes like diamonds in my hands
But those trophies could not equal to the grace by which I stand
Chorus:
In Christ alone
I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone
In Christ alone do I glory
For only by His grace I am redeemed
For only His tender mercy
Could reach beyond my weakness to my need
And now I seek no greater honor in just to know Him more
And to count my gains but losses to the glory of my Lord
Chorus:
In Christ alone
I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory
Let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope

shared @ YPM on 10 Dec - the weekend just before the start of the camp.
2 Cor. 12:9 (NLT)
Each time he said, "My gracious favor is all you need. My power works best in your weakness." So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may work through me.

unity - for the camp committee, especially
i wanted to show clips from LOTR (Lord of the Rings)
and to describe the camp committee as the army that defends a castle....
someone once shared with me that when we challenge people to join a committee, we should pick people who'd be able to work well with one another...
well, i pondered about that idea, and this is my conclusion:
which would be a greater testimony? which would give "more" glory to God?- people who are all great friends and work together well, organizing this camp... OR- people who struggle with the inter-personal relationships... yet organize a good camp and put aside their personal differences/ quarrels to serve God & His people?in my opinion, i think the second is a more powerful testimony...and for the first scenario, i think itz too ideal a picture... Coz whether or not people are good friends, when they are put into a committee & experience stress or minor miscommunication taking place, quarrels can occur, grudges can be harboured... so it doesn't make a totally smooth journey anyway!i shared something about this with the camp committee at our very first meeting: i shared with them, about how God & i chose them to serve in this committee...click

Remember the "to be more like Jesus" Children's Camp...
Dear all,
please pray also for our Church Children's Camp - which started today and will end with Thanksgiving on Friday night... The theme of the camp is "to be more like Jesus"... Itz meant for p3-p6 children...
i dropped by church tonite, and was excited to see so much enthusiasm among the children and helpers as they played games... and i was amazed that they were so still during the sermon/sharing by "auntie yvonne" from COS (Bukit Timah)...
there's a total of 190 campers? (children from COS(MP), COS(Bkt Timah) + student care, and helpers)...
Pray that God will touch each and every one who's there - so that their lives may never be the same again - for having encountered and experienced the One True and Living God during these few days... =)
with love,
Amelia

The theme of the camp ain't just about Rezolution...making a rezolution for Jesus Christ....But it's really about this -that there's a call to action for all who are willing to heed it...a call for a New Generation of young peopleto rise up - to reach their full potential in Christand to reach out - to their own generation for Jesus Christ.long before i was approached to be the camp chairman for this year's YPM camp, God had already written this onto my heart....in march this year, i was toying around with the idea of considering what the theme for YPM Camp 2005 should be... and the thought that crystallized was the beginning of what you read earlier.and in case you're wondering, Uncle william only approached me (to become the chairman for the camp) in July.inspiration for the name "rezolution"? check out this website -
Brownsville AOG: Rezolution.yupz, got the inspiration from them... i love the ministry of this church Brownsville AOG in pensacola florida USA... and often visit their site (
brownsville-revival site)...
once in july, i was surfing their site & landed on this one ministry for the young adults called Rezolution. as i read deeper, i realized that their purpose & mission statement for the group was almost the same as my vision for our young peoples' ministry & YPM Camp 2005...
it also amused me that the name Rezolution was so similar to the title of last year's camp Revolution... only different in one letter...yep... that was where i got the inspiration for the name of our YPM Camp 2005: ReZolution! :)

this is a long overdue "message from the chair"... ever since founding the blog-site, i have wanted to share about the meaning of the name of the camp "ReZolution" with you, beloved young people...the slide shown at first service on 16 oct {click this
link to download (in .pdf format) and see}:
is one place where i clearly explain the definition that's carried over from the word "Resolution"....
But why did i have to change it from 's' to 'Z'?because i didn't want us to fall into the same rut or stigma that follows New Year Resolutions... months later, we still haven't accomplished the New Year Resolutions that we made in January. That really shouldn't be the way when it comes to Resolutions made for our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ! Therefore, i had to change it to ReZolution - resolution + a capital 'Z' (which can be used to stand for "ZeAlOusNeSs")...for where i got the inspiration for that word "rezolution"?? look out for the next message from the chair podcast... where i will explain more about the God-given theme for this camp and how i derived the inspiration for that word....
Message from the Chair #11
people need the Lord....it is my desire that non-christians will join the camp... that God would lead them to join....
that is why i decided we would open up the camp to allow them to join in...
trusting in God that if it was His will, He would then lead non-christians to sign up...
beyond that - it is my desire that our young people start to realize this great need... that people need the Lord... and that beyond the camp itself, they would start to reach out to their friends & classmates, because they need the Lord - each and every one of them....
oh when will we realize,
that we must give our lives,
for people need the lord...

continued from Message from the Chair #5....
when i went on the stage in the chapel to make the announcement about the camp to the main services on Sunday 16 Oct (at first service & at bilingual service)... Though the content was slightly different, the idea is the same (even the same to my "pitch" at YPM service the previous day) - that this year's YPM camp ReZolution is very much a continuation from last year's YPM camp Revolution'04... And that if Revolution was a good camp, young people should set apart these 4 days & 3 nights to expect the same (if not more) from God at this year's YPM Camp - ReZolution'05....
what i shared at first service:
video clip of the worship services, ps. daniel chua preaching, the last nite service, "i want the cross", Lk. 9:23. to the music of "It's a Revolution Cry" (Passion: Sacred Revolution album). extracted/edited from last year's YPM Camp video...
Shared about the Theme of this year's YPM Camp - ReZolution. Gave a definition for that word (as challenged by Uncle Kim San to do so =).
what i shared at bilingual service:
did not show the video clip, instead i shared simply about some bible verses.
invited young people to stand up... this camp is designed for You. Church, look around you - these are the young people in your service.
at last year's camp during the last evening service, young people declared that "i want the cross" - Lk. 9:23 was one of the verses that was a focus at that camp.
this year - our camp theme verse is taken from Acts 20:24.
it's really a continuation from the Revolution camp last year.... Therefore, you should make the Rezolution to come....
(for more about the theme... wait for the next "message from the chair" podcast!)
