Message from the Chair #12

unity - for the camp committee, especially
i wanted to show clips from LOTR (Lord of the Rings)
and to describe the camp committee as the army that defends a castle....

someone once shared with me that when we challenge people to join a committee, we should pick people who'd be able to work well with one another...
well, i pondered about that idea, and this is my conclusion:
which would be a greater testimony? which would give "more" glory to God?
- people who are all great friends and work together well, organizing this camp... OR
- people who struggle with the inter-personal relationships... yet organize a good camp and put aside their personal differences/ quarrels to serve God & His people?

in my opinion, i think the second is a more powerful testimony...
and for the first scenario, i think itz too ideal a picture... Coz whether or not people are good friends, when they are put into a committee & experience stress or minor miscommunication taking place, quarrels can occur, grudges can be harboured... so it doesn't make a totally smooth journey anyway!

i shared something about this with the camp committee at our very first meeting:
i shared with them, about how God & i chose them to serve in this committee...
